About Us
Only a two and a half hours drive from OR Tambo Int Airport, close to the heritage and culturally rich town of Groot Marico, nestled in pristine bushveld in the North West Province of South Africa lies the elegant Ukuthanda Lodge. This beautiful exclusive lodge with its four luxury airconditioned chalets, a lookout deck over-looking vast expanses of bushveld and a cosy intimate dining room, provides, for the discerned guest, a true African experience. The splash pool not only helps you to cool down during hot summer days but serves as water source for some of the wildlife passing by late afternoon. With views over extended bushveld and mountains, our boma surrounded by indigenous trees and lush green gardens provides the perfect location for late nights bon fires under African skies with a magnitude of stars smiling down on you. Relaxing around the boma fire and listening to the roars of our lions, reminds one nostalgically of the dangers early explorers had to face when braving the dangerous wilds of Africa in eras gone by.
When the sun sets late afternoon, shining its orange rays over the lodge, a group of stunning Kudu bulls descend on the lodge, their curved horns glistening in the late African sun, led by two brave free roaming warthogs, a Nyala bull and the Blue Wildebeest herd for treats of fresh lucerne.
Relaxing with a sundowner on the lookout deck, surrounded by magnificent wildlife and bushveld brings an amazing inner peace and tranquillity to the soul of the nature lover.
Various nature and wildlife trails allow our guests kilometres of footpaths to explore the veld and bush, or even take a refreshing run early morning meeting wildlife around every corner, tree or bush.

UKUTHANDA HELPS FIGHT
GLOBAL WARMING:
We recently planted a numerous amount of 'Spekboom' (Portulacaria afra) which is a small leaved succulent plant found in South-Sfrica. This indigenous evergreen is an environmental miracle worker with the potential to tackle carbon like no other plant can. One hectare of Spekboom can sequester between 4 and 10 tonnes of carbon per year. It improves the quality of air we breath and help fight climate change.
